There are three kinds of belts commonly used in automobiles: fan belt, multi wedge belt and timing belt. Installation position of automobile belt: in automobile application, it is mainly installed at the crankshaft rotary cam of automobile engine, water pump, generator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, etc.
1. The fan belt is a belt driven by the crankshaft. Its main purpose is to drive the engine fan and water pump.
2. The multi wedge belt, also known as air conditioning belt, is used to drive the generator, air conditioning compressor and power steering pump. These belts are suspended on the crankshaft pulley and tightened by the air conditioning belt tensioner. When the belt is damaged, the power will sink and there is no power steering; If the air conditioning is turned on, the air conditioning compressor will not start and therefore cannot be cooled.
3. Timing belt is an important part of engine valve system. Through the connection with the crankshaft and a certain transmission ratio, the accuracy of intake and exhaust time is guaranteed.
The timing belt is used to ignite the piston stroke (up and down movement) and valve opening and closing sequence (time) when the engine is running. Under the "timed" connection, the "synchronous" operation shall always be maintained.
The engine drives various auxiliary mechanisms through belt drive, such as air conditioning compressor, power steering oil pump, alternator, etc. if the belt slips or breaks, the relevant auxiliary mechanisms will not work normally, thus affecting the normal use of the vehicle. Therefore, it is necessary to check the drive belt regularly.
